Dear Editor,

I had good time reading the interesting case report by Law et al.[1] published in the April–June 2018 issue of the Journal of Integrative Nephrology and Andrology. The authors nicely described an uncommon case of aggressive angiomyxoma (AA) of the scrotum in a 38-year-old patient.[1] I presume that the rare entity of that tumor should trigger the authors to consider impaired immune status in the studied patient. Among conditions associated with impaired immunity, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is of utmost importance. My presumption is based on the following point. It is noteworthy that due to low immunity, concomitant infection with oncogenic viruses, and life extension due to the use of antiretroviral therapy, patients with HIV infection are more susceptible to various types of tumors compared to those with healthy immune system.[2] Hence, HIV testing through the diagnostic panel of blood CD4 lymphocyte count and viral overload estimations was solicited in the studied patient. If that panel was to disclose HIV reactivity, the case in question could be surely considered a novel case report. This is because HIV-associated AA has never been reported in the literature so far.
